Abby Steiner, a PUMA professional athlete, was the women's winner of the Bowerman Award at a ceremony at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colo. Steiner became the first Kentucky competitor to be a Bowerman recipient after Keni Harrison (2015) and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (2018) were both finalists. Steiner is the second athlete coached by Tim Hall to receive the award, along with Christian Coleman of Tennessee in 2017. She is the fourth consecutive female athlete from the Southeastern Conference to be honored with the Bowerman Award, following Athing Mu of Texas A&M last year, Sha'Carri Richardson of LSU in 2019 and Keturah Orji of Georgia in 2018. Steiner captured a pair of gold medals at the World Championships and concluded her Kentucky career with four NCAA Division 1 titles and four collegiate records.
