Abby Steiner of Kentucky was recognized by the Collegiate Women's Sports Awards as the national track and field honoree, attending the ceremony June 27 at the Founders Room at USC's Galen Center one day after winning the 200-meter title at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Steiner, who ran the second-fastest time in the world this year at 21.77 seconds, became the third Kentucky female athlete to be honored in any sport by the CWSA, joining Madison Lilley in volleyball last year and Jenny Hansen in gymnastics from 1994-96. She also joined two-time CWSA track and field recipient Kimberlyn Duncan of LSU (2012-13) as the first female competitor since 2013 to win the NCAA Division 1 indoor and outdoor 200 titles, along with the U.S. national championship in the same year.
