World Record Holder Off to a Fast Start in 2017

By Scott Bush, DyeStat Editor

2016 was a year to remember for 100m hurdle star Keni Harrison. The former University of Kentucky athlete ran the world record in her event, won the IAAF Diamond League title, ran eight of the nine fastest times in the world, all while earning silver at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland in the 60m hurdles.

Fast forward to Saturday, when Harrison opened up her 2017 season competing in the 60m hurdle event at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational at the University of Kentucky.

Harrison got the day off to a quick start, easily winning her heat in 7.85, setting up what would surely be a fast final. Sure enough, Harrison cruised to victory in 7.75, which ranks her at US#3 all-time in the event and world #9 all-time.
