The Kentucky cross country program opened the 2013 season at the Belmont Opener on Friday. The Wildcats were led by Matt Hillenbrand's fifth place finish on the men's side and a ninth-place performance from Cally Macumber on the women's side.

All eyes around the Kentucky athletics world will focus on Nashville on Saturday, but the UK cross country teams will kick off the weekend - and the 2013 season - in the same city with the Belmont Opener of Friday.
